Mission and Editorial Policy

For 48 years, Psychosomatics has been dedicated to helping its readers achieve excellence in the clinical care of patients with medical and psychiatric comorbidity. With the recent certification of psychosomatic medicine as a recognized subspecialty by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, more readers are turning to the pages of Psychosomatics for its peer-reviewed articles and research reports on everything from the latest advances in drug therapy to psychosocial treatments for medical disorders. Crucial knowledge for all practitioners regularly appears in a column detailing the interactions occurring when medical and psychiatric conditions are treated with multiple medications. Other features include concisely written case reports, perspectives on emerging trends in the field, book reviews, and letters. And Psychosomatics continues to evolve as the specialty grows, recently introducing an Issues in Bioethics section while featuring review articles to put into context the field's growth and increasing prominence.
