Persistent Somatic Symptoms Following Psychiatric Hospitalization Precipitated By The Recent Blackout: Two Cases

MICHAEL BLUMENFIELD M.D.1, and LEWIS GLICKMAN M.D.2

1 Resident in Psychiatry, Kings County Hospital, Brooklyn, N. Y.
2 Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Downstate Medical College, State University of New York and Director, Psychiatric Admissions, Consultation and Emergency Treatment Service, Kings County Hospital, Brooklyn, N. Y.

The recent blackout resulted in psychiatric hospitalization of at least two of two million six hundred thousand persons exposed to the power failure.
